My husband and I think it’s a good idea to introduce new food items to our kids so they won’t be so picky and so that we get a break from making mac-n-cheese 6 out of 7 days of the week. This past weekend, the husband (we can call him Marty), made a batch of chocolate chip pancakes. Our 4 year old loves them and we figured so would the 1 1/2 year old. Now, when I give them to her, I break up the pancake bypassing all the gooey chocolate chips (which I eat myself) and just give her the cake parts. Less mess, I say! When Marty gives them to her, he plops the pancake down, chips and all, and lets her go to town. I have to admit that his way is much more entertaining! Here’s proof:

And just for reference, she usually looks like this when she eats most anything. Here’s more proof… (this was after we gave her one mini M&M.)

I think the fact that she’s a drool-machine adds to the messiness. She just puts so much intensity into her craft. More proof:

She is just going to town trying to figure out that hard-boiled egg. She ended up with blue dye on her face, but sadly I never snapped a shot of the aftermath. I went straight to the clean-up process.
Is it possible to love a kid so much it makes you hurt?! She makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Laugh because she is a funny little thing; Cry because our house is always a big smudge print.
My fresh focus tip for the day is mix it up! Give your kids new foods and let them at it. My second tip is to have lots of wet wipes handy!

SO sweet. I laughed that it was just ONE MINI M&M!
And her trying to figure out that hard-boiled egg was too precious.
I like Marty’s way too – let her go to town!
