A rainy afternoon kept us inside this Saturday and, wouldn’t you know, my 4 year old was bored by lunchtime. I mentioned that we could dress up and take some photos of just us. We haven’t done that in a while. We could dress like rocker chicks! I envisioned black shirts, wild hair, lots of eyeliner…things like that. My girl immediately asked to wear her tutu…her pink tutu. That’s not very rocker-like. I asked her to at least find a jean jacket to pair it with. So, she picked the pink Winnie-the-Pooh jacket. *sigh*. It will have to do….her attention span won’t last long. 
We put the camera on a tripod, set the timer and here’s what we got….

I just love this girl…she plays so well. As a photographer, I am normally more comfortable behind the camera, but every now and then I try to get in front of it. Like most people, I am overly critical of what I look like in photos. As I was reviewing these shots with my girl, she was giggling and said, “remember how much fun we had!”. She never once said “I look terrible in that shot”. So, I am going to try and take a lesson from her and not be so critical of myself.
I encourage you to also get in the picture. One day you’ll look back and be glad you let go and got your spot in your family photo albums!

Jeri – these really are fantastic and you will always treasure having these. You need to do this more often! You don’t want to end up always being behind the camera instead of in front in the family albums. I hope you frame one of these! She’s so cute with her tutu and winnie sweater – lol.
